Sound assessment of hazardous substances and biocides

I support public institutions, companies and those responsible for planning to make a sound assessment of hazardous substances and biocidal products and to select suitable alternatives. To do this, I combine systematic data collection with human and ecotoxicological assessments and practical recommendations.

  • I primarily use data from the European Chemicals Agency ECHA as the basis for my analyses.

    These include the Classification and Labelling Inventory, REACH registration dossiers and the assessment reports published under the review programme for biocidal active substances. I also consult scientific databases, specialist journals and other technical literature.

Hazard analysis Hazard analysis
  • I analyse the hazards of substances based on their classification according to the CLP regulation and additional toxicological and ecotoxicological data. Both possible effects on human health and risks to the environment are taken into account.

    For disinfectants, the WIDES database enables a direct comparison of products. Other substance groups and applications – such as biocides in evaporative cooling systems and façade coatings as well as rodenticides – are evaluated using a transparent categorization scheme.

Rating and recommendation
  • Based on the data collected, I compare substances, products and processes. The aim is to make particularly problematic properties visible and to identify less hazardous alternatives.

    The results are prepared in such a way that they can be used as a comprehensible basis for procurement, product selection and substitution decisions.
